Our online control follows manufacturer guidelines and operates under manufacturer warranty support. You do not need to make any modifications to your installation, and there is no risk to the warranty or lifespan of your solar system.

No, using the Zonnedimmer app is free.
This function requires our Zonnedimmer Dongle, available from June 2026. The dongle is connected to the smart meter and can measure how much electricity you feed back into the grid and how much you consume yourself. Based on this, you can set it so only electricity you do not use yourself is curtailed, so your own consumption is not affected.
We work with the listed inverter manufacturers and perform our monitoring and control according to their guidelines and with manufacturer support. Therefore, using Zonnedimmer does not affect the warranty or lifespan of your solar installation.
For most households (that consume more than they feed back on an annual basis), in 2026 (under net metering) the price will only be negative for a few hours per year, because under net metering you still receive energy tax and VAT back on fed-back kWh (about € 0.16/kWh).
Do you feed back more annually than you consume (you have many solar panels and/or low consumption)? Then the part you feed back above your annual consumption falls outside the net metering scheme. For this overproduction, the bare market price plus supplier markup applies, and this (outside net metering) price was already negative for hundreds of hours per year in 2025.
From 1-1-2027, when net metering is abolished, you will no longer receive taxes back on feed-in, and for everyone with a dynamic contract the bare market price plus supplier markup will apply. Then curtailing at negative prices can quickly save you € 30 to € 50 per year.
